| Alisha Maher | Inspiration (Winner) | Alisha has received this award for being a supportive friend, to a friend in need. She encouraged a friend to return to school and always contributes valuably to school activities herself. She is well behaved and achieves well. She handles difficult situations with maturity and is not afraid to ask for assistance from others when she needs it. She is open to working through problems with adults responsibly – and we believe that this models strong self awareness. |
| Amber-Lee Perakovic | Mateship (Winner) | Amber is dedicated to assisting other young people in the Student 2 Student program as a mentor. Ambers role is to contact other young people by phone in her own time and listen to them read. She strives for excellence in all tasks given to her and stays focused on projects given to her, even when they are challenging. She is a kind and caring young women and we are proud of all that she is accomplishing and her unwavering desire to help others. |
| Dance 4 Africa Girls | Team Work (Winner) | Dance for Africa Group – Alix Jolly, Crystal Fenner, Tayla Adams and Janelle Raumati. These four girls were chosen as recipients of the team work award for being committed to dance and going over and beyond what is expected of them. They have been closely involved with assisting Tanya with choreography and are about to commence a program that teaches adults to dance. The girls are always supportive of others in the group, encouraging and motivating them to succeed. They assist Tanya in managing a large number of young people, in particular younger members of the group .In addition they have been and are student council members. As their reward they have chosen to undergo a makeover in preparation for their community performance at the arts centre. They are looking forward to having their nails, hair and make up done by professional makeup artists and performing for the Kwinana community |
| Daniel Connelly | Respect (Winner) | Daniel always demonstrates respect for teachers, peers and family. He is a positive and polite young person who always strives to reach his goals. Daniel was closely involved in the official launch of the LyriK program, assisting with the coordination of the sk8 demonstrations. He invited teachers from KSHS to attend the launch and support local young people that were performing on the day, and to help raise awareness of the program. Given Daniels close involvement with sk8, he has chosen to purchase some additional parts for his skateboard, contribute to the production of a Kwinana sk8 dvd, as well as becoming an ambassador for the LyriK program, promoting leadership in young people. |
| Jacob Francisco | Inspiration (Winner) | Jacob was chosen for this award for demonstrating unconditional respect and resilience in the face of lifes challenges. He role models maturity and emotional strength and applies him self to achieve his life goals. Jacob applies himself to his school work in a positive manner and is a valued member of the Leda football club. He is passionate about the WCE which maybe explains the reason he has chosen as his incentive to attend an Eagles training session with 4 friends, with the opportunity of meeting some of the Eagles stars. Jacob will also receive a WCE football jersey. |
| Jesse Ballard | Team Work (Winner) | Jesse is well known to all of us that have the opportunity to frequent the sk8 park. I think that I would be right to say that skating is Jesses passion. He was first nominated in the team work category for being a ‘team player’…Jesse on many occasions has taken it upon himself to behave in a way that is generous to others, in particular when it comes to sharing the spotlight. He includes others in groups, rather than standing out on his own. He was instrumental in organizing the sk8 component of the LyriK Launch which for those that were there, you would agree was a very professional performance. Jesse has enormous potential to be a young leader within the Kwinana community. |
| Jessica Reed | Respect (Winner) | Jessica is a member of the Dance for Africa group. She attends practice regularly, strives to do her best. She is always prepared to help other young people that are struggling and maintains a positive attitude. Jessica achieves well at school, has a lot of friends and is a positive role model for peers. Jessica is a keen netballer and therefore it seems fitting that she has chosen to attend a Perth Orioles home match with her mum and two friends next Friday. Jessica will also receive a new netball! |
| Joel Plowman | Inspiration (Winner) | Joel won this award for staying focused on his goals in life and striving hard to achieve his best. He leads by example and is always happy to assist other young people, particularly with sport. Recently Joel was chosen to be in the elite squad in the Safety Bay Soccer Academy, again demonstrating his commitment to working hard. Additionally Joel is helpful and respectful around the house with his mum and sisters. He has recently also become a valued member of the LyriK Youth Media group. Given Joels love of soccer it seems appropriate that he has chosen to attend a Perth Glory training session with 3 friends and TOK Club development officer. He will have the opportunity to meet some of the players and get his NEW Perth Glory jersey signed. |
| North Parmelia Primary School Safety Club | Team Work (Winner) | The North Parmelia Primary School Safety Club are very worthy recipients of this team work award. As a group there role is to increase awareness about safety at school and within the wider community. They work together to improve the physical and behavioural aspects of their environment and promote the message – 'think safe-play safe'. |
| Posche Langsanam | Mateship (Winner) | Porshe was nominated for assisting the Kwinana Youth Service with the recent LyriK launch. Porshe is a kind young man who is always willing to help out others and get involved in youth activities and projects. Porsche does a lot behind the scenes to help his friends. Prior to the launch, Porsche spoke to local young skaters about the type of music they wanted for their sk8 demo. He then downloaded the music on his own MP3 player and supplied it too staff. He helped the local band and staff set up down for the evening, and filmed the nights festivities. At no point was this ever asked of him. We believed that this demonstrated unconditional friendship to his peers. |
| Samantha Williams | Respect (Winner) | Sammy was chosen for this award for demonstrating her commitment to school work, in which she excels, her sports activities and her dedication to helping others with dance. Sammy is a kind and caring young women who shows high regard for others. She handles challenging situations responsibly is prepared to work through problems maturally. She is a positive role model to other young people and always strives to have a positive attitude. |
| Sheridan McCrone | Respect (Winner) | Sheridan was successful in receiving this award because of her strong belief in herself and her constant ‘can do attitude’. She attends school regularly and recently positively participated in the “Heads Up” program. The one thing that really stands out about Sheridan is that she is a positive role model for other young people and consistently demonstrates respect, tolerance for others, independence and responsibility, despite sometimes facing challenging life situations. For Sheridans award we have organized an excursion to the Perth Zoo for her and three friends, where they will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the crocodile enclosure. She will also receive a $50 gift voucher from Supre. |

| Dance 4 Africa Girls | Team Work (Winner) | The second of the team work awards goes to Ebony Walker Mathews, Tiara and Shateka Lovell Herbet and Melanie Anderson. These girlsHave volunteered their time to assist others within the Dance 4 Africa group. They have worked well as a team. The girls have all assisted Tanya with helping other young people learn to dance. They were a part of the Dance 4 Africa telethon audition, and have demonstrated commitment to Kwinana and helping others. |
| Darcie Wright | Achievement (Winner) | Darcie won this award for demonstrating maturity when faced with complex and sometime challenging conflicts. Darcie has volunteered his time and effort to help others with the Kwinana Skate DVD. He has made significant changes to his life, for the better, and has worked hard to improve the way he deals with conflict and anger. Darcie is a great role model for how to work hard to achieve your goals against all odds. |
| Hayden Thompson | Inspiration (Winner) | Hayden was won this award for demonstrating volunteering his time to assist others, particularlywith the Kwinana Youth Service Music program. He is also a positive role model for other young people, recently deterring a peer from getting involved with graffiti. |
| Hayley Plowman | Inspiration (Winner) | Hayley won this award for volunteering her time to the LyriK media group. Hayley has been closely involved in the Dance 4 africa group and has worked hard to help raise funds for those less fortunate. Hayley always aspires to do her best, even when faced with challenging life situations. She is a passionate belly dancer and will be performing at centre stage later this morning. |

| Helmet or Hospital | Mateship (Winner) | The three boys won an award for demonstrating kindness and maturity when faced with the challenge of seeing their friend severely injured in a bike accident. The boys were able to keep David calm and call for assistance. They implemented basic first aid. The boys are keen to use this experience to raise awareness about the importance of wearing helmets! |
| Lauren Garbutt | Mateship (Winner) | Lauren is being recognized for volunteering her time. For the dance 4 africa performance. Even though Lauren was not performing, she assisted behind the scenes, sold tickets and helped keep the younger dancers relaxed and calm before their performances. She is a wonderful example of how it is not always important to be in the limelight and that working |
| Rebecca Zemek | Achievement (Winner) | Rebecca has won this award for volunteering her time to the Dance 4 Africa production. She was asked to talk about complex and controversial topics. She dealt with these issues in a mature and professional Manner. Bec has recently been accepted into the Performing Arts program at John Curtain. She is closely Involved in choreography and teaching dance to younger Children. She is a guiding example to other young people in Kwinana that you can achieve your goals by working hard and pushing yourself. |
| Recycling Crew (North Parmelia) | Team Work (Winner) | The Recycling Crew have assisted to implement recycling initiatives into North Parmelia Primary School. They collect and empty the recycling bins during the week, monitor the amount of paper thrown out by each of the classes and are responsible for the Recycling award which is presented to each of the classes implementing recycling initiatives. In this day and age it is great to see young people working hard to help preserve the environment. |

| Bertram PS Year 6/7 2008 | Team Work (Winner) | Bertram Primary School is a purpose built school that opened in February 2007. The 2007 year 6/7 class has played a pivotal role in developing and fostering the strong community feeling that has developed through the year. They have ensured the younger students have felt safe, cared for and involved in all aspects of school life. |
| Calista PS Year 6/7 2008 | Team Work (Winner) | Calista Primary School year 6/7 students have been monitoring the Peel Main Drain and the surrrounding envioroment for the past year. They have been taking samples, conducting snapshot surveys and keeping an eye on nesting boxes. To provide a service to the community the group have been working colabortively with Industry, Town of Kwinana, Ribbons of Blue (to name a few) to improve the Peel main Drain. |
| Kyia Mills | Mateship (Winner) | Kyia won a LyriK award for friendship. She won this award for helping out other young people at school and in her freetime to help learn dance steps for the Dance 4 Africa production. She was worked hard herself, putting in extra time and effort in order to better her skills. |
| Larissa Whittingham - Smith | Mateship (Winner) | Larissa won the LyriK award for Inspiration. Larissa has shown that you can achieve anything by giving it a go. She puts her own time aside to assist others. Currently she is helping her dance teacher instruct the younger students, and working hard to help a young man trying to get a performing arts scholarship. Well done Larissa. |
| Lisa Doomen | Team Work (Winner) | Lisa won the achievement category for her role as a Student to Student mentor whereby she assists other young people to how to read. In addition to this Lisa was the editor of the school newsletter, whereby she had to manage student photographers & reporters to ensure that they get photos of current school events. She also collated and managed items coming in from the community by email and made sure they were placed in the newsletter. |
| Rodney Patience | Respect (Winner) | Rodney helps out with the care of his siblings at home. He has worked very hard this semester to achieve his goals and to work closely with his teachers and support staff. He has made many positive changes in sometimes challenging situations. We are very proud of his efforts. Well done Rodney! |
| Sharni Winter | Achievement (Winner) | Sharni won the 2nd achievement award for volunteering her time and working hard to improving her dance in order to help raise money and awareness about life in South Africa. She works hard at school and has taken on the responsibility of setting up the PA at every assembly, is in the school choir, and is North Parmelias head girl. She works hard and is highly regarded by her teachers and peers. |

Term 1
| Andrea Haigh | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Andrea has won a LyriK award for leadership. She has been an active member of the Dance 4 Africa program for nearly a year. She has taken on a leadership role in both dance programs within her school and weekend community classes. She now patiently teaches younger children the steps, and takes part in all fundraising events, which provide food and equipment for underprivileged children in South Africa and Vietnam. In the recent production 'A Cape Town Journey', Andrea spent hours learning a song to perform, as well as perfecting her dance steps. She showed up to rehearsal the day after breaking her arm, in order to make sure that she didn't get behind the other kids. Andrea is mature for her age, and a great leader for other young people to look up to. |
| Brad Kokot-Thompson | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Brad has received his LyriK award for Leadership. He joined the cast of 'A Cape Town Journey' at the start of the term as a lead character. He spent hours learning his lines, researching life in Africa to give an accurate performance, and also learnt to dance, giving up his afternoons, weekends and evenings in order to perfect the steps. Brad offered to help with making the sets, and spent days designing and painting backdrops. He also led the younger children in meeting and greeting the VIPs at the show, and contributed towards raising a large amount of money to go towards food and supplies for the children in South Africa and Vietnam. Now that the show is over, Brad has continued attending dance classes, helping to teach adults. |
| Erik Sieling | Inspiration (Winner) | Erik has won a LyriK Award in the Inspiration Category. He has been involved in Kwinana Youth Services and LyriK events and programs, including putting together a cuprocking display at the LyriK Christmas function and the Kwinana Youth Services Urban Art Projects. Erik is a member of the Youth Advisory Council and was Involved with creating the KIK (Kids In Kwinana) skate brand. He is constantly engaged in projects, programs and is constantly trying to recruit other young people to take part in community events. |
| Gardenflies | Team Work (Winner) | This group have clearly demonstrated a commitment to raising awareness about nutrition, the environment and organic gardens, and have also demonstrated mentoring and consistency when working on a project. They are involved in programs within the school, maintaining the town of Kwinana wetland area, the Red Cross School Gardens Program, and have recently started propagating plants native to the Bertram/Kwinana area. With the success of their school garden, they now have so much produce that they are able to sell and give away fresh fruit at lunchtime. In their lunchtimes, they also collect food scraps for their worm farms, crush cans for recycling and tend to the gardens. |
| Jessica Franz | Respect (Winner) | Jessica has received her award for Respect. She is a member of the PEAC program and school choir, and received the Library Award and the Principal's Award at school. Jessie received an award fro being a good role model in the Making Tracks Program, and was part of a team of three students who competed in a statewide Italian competition, where they were placed second. Jessie is actively involved with the Dance For Africa programs, and always tries her hardest in everything she does. She has chosen to respect herself and others and treat them as she would like to be treated. |
| Junior Media Group | Team Work (Winner) | The Junior Media Group has been running for aproximately 18 months. The group dedicates their time and energy to raise awareness about local issues affecting young people, and promote their peers and the good things they do in their community through the 'Konnect' magazine. They have worked hard on improving their literacy levels and skills in photography and graphic design. They work behind the scenes, and are very rarely the ones in the spotlight. They continue to work and encourage other young people to do the right thing, and have never asked for recognition - they just turn up week in and week out and are happy to work on behalf of other young people and the LyriK program. |

| Bertram Gardenflies | Team Work (Winner) | The Gardenflies meet during their lunch breaks to participate in a combination of recycling and gardening activities. The organic vegetable gardens have more than doubled in size, and the increase in student and staff numbers have meant the gardenflies have been very busy in 2009! Some activities undertaken during their lunch break include collecting food scraps from around the school to feed worms, watering and weeding and planting seeds. The Gardenflies work keeps expanding and for this they are one of the LYRIK groups of the year for 2009. |
| Dance 4 Africa Advanced Group | Team Work (Winner) | Since being nominated earlier this year the girls have continued to actively take part in their community. They received a first place in the float and walking sections of the parade for the Kwinana Festival. The group has also been awarded the runner up/highly commended award at the 2009 Western Australian Childrens awards of recognition in the caring for myself and others category. Their continual push for self development and the development of others is why the dance for Africa advanced group is the second LYRIK group of the year for 2009. |
| Eric Wynne-Mourish | Inspiration (Winner) | Eric has won the award for inspiration due to his love of Gilmore College and Kwinana. After facing a set of challenging experiences, Eric moved to Gilmore College in mid 2008 from Fremantle. Since this move, Eric’s attendance record shows 100%, he has a great attitude towards school and the community and he has a positive effect on those around him. |
| Hazel Armada & Jasmyn Hillier | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Jasmyn and Hazel have been nominated for the leadership award due to their role modelling particularly with Dance 4 Africa. For the past two terms, Jasmyn and Hazel have been assisting fellow student Sharni Winter in teaching the junior dance class in their school, becoming the first students to take on this role in the school’s history. |
| Larissa Whittingham-Smith | Mateship (Winner) | Larissa has won the award for friendship because she has been a very helpful and loyal friend. Larissa participates in Dance 4 Africa, Junior Media Group and sings at the Wellard School of Music and she is always kind to everyone around her, especially newcomers. |
| Lisa Doomen | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Lisa has been nominated for the leadership award due to her exceptional leadership and management skills. In a recent school project throughout terms 3 & 4 all students identified Lisa as a role model and student who always does the right thing. Lisa takes direction where required, she is intelligent, helpful and her opinion is always respected by her peers. |
| Milena Milovanovic | Achievement (Winner) | Milena won the award for achievement for the huge amount of things she has achieved since moving here from Croatia. English is Milena’s second language, yet she contributes fully and makes the most of every opportunity in her school and life in Kwinana. Milena achieves solidly across all learning areas, and other students have learnt more about the Croatian way of life due to her generosity with knowledge and her kind regard for all. |
| North Parmelia Garden Group | Team Work (Winner) | North Parmelia Primary School Garden Group have won this award because of the excellent nature of their program – it includes establishing a class garden, promoting healthy eating and mentoring. The other classes of North Parmelia Primary School use the garden as a focus point for learning about plant growth and use the produce in their cooking programmes. The program has had flow on effects in the words of one student: “Our class has become a team – not just in the garden but in the class as well.” |
| Sharni Winter | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Sharni spends hours and hours of her time teaching, choreographing and working with the kids of Kwinana with Dance 4 Africa. In addition, Sharni is involved in a number of other activities including state level basketball and LYRIK. Sharni’s achievements are numerous and she is a deserving recipient of this award. Sharni’s numerous achievements including choreographing the major performance of A Cape Town Journey in April 2009, teaching groups of up to 50 children dance steps, and being the first student at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School to teach her own after school class demonstrate her as someone who is continually developing herself further. This makes Sharni a deserving recipient of the inaugural LYRIK Progress Award. |

| Bailey Brett (Highly Commended) | Mateship (Nominated) | Bailey was nominated for being a polite leader within the Koorliny Arts Centre Boys Club. Bailey is always the first to introduce himself to new members of the club, and is a great role model to younger boys. |
| Ben Joss (Highly Commended) | Respect (Nominated) | Ben has been nominated as a young person who is always very positive in his interactions with adults and peers alike. Ben uses his intelligence to assist and encourage the others around him in the classroom. |
| Cassandra Nicholson (Highly Commended) | Achievement (Nominated) | Cassandra has been nominated for her numerous achievements in a variety of activities. Cassandra has strong academic progress in the classroom, and a friendly, polite and responsible manner inside and outside of the classroom. Cassandra was the best overall female sportsperson in 2009, playing soccer and netball at interschool levels. |
| Justin Loy (Highly Commended) | Team Work (Nominated) | Justin was nominated as a young person who exemplifies the positive values of teamwork both inside and outside of the school community. Within class activities Justin always encourages and supports others, and shows the same positive role modelling when playing sport. |
| Kerrie-Ann Wright | Achievement (Winner) | Kerri-Ann was nominated as she has been commended at a national level for her skill in photography. Kerrie-Ann has also had two of her photographs published in international photography books. Kerrie-Ann’s confidence has also continued to grow along with her achievements. Her achievements have taken considerable hard-work and dedication on her part, and have really paid off, resulting in these international accolades. |
| Kristie Nicholson | Inspiration (Winner) | Kristie was nominated because despite pressures and grief in her personal life, she has demonstrated a hard work ethic in continually striving for excellence in everything that she does. Kristie is a competent actor and dancer, had an outstanding report in 2009 and is held in great esteem with her teachers and peers alike. |
| Lucaan Cooper (Highly Commended) | Role Model / Leadership (Nominated) | Lucaan has been nominated as a responsible and respectful student who consistently demonstrates good manners and consideration for others, making him an excellent role model. He demonstrates his positive attitude and solid values and integrity on the sporting field, in the classroom and in his role as a student councillor. |
| Tahj Hilzinger-Smith | Respect (Winner) | Tahj has been nominated for providing an awesome role model for peers, staff and students. He demonstrates respect and integrity in all interactions and has clear personal values. Tahj’s focus and dedication assists all students, and he is nominated daily by his peers for being an inclusive and enthusiastic leader. |
| Trent Buswell | Mateship (Winner) | Trent was nominated for being a supportive, caring and loyal friend. Trent supports his peers in a very encouraging way and sticks up for his friends and against bullying. He is a consistent and positive support to a lot of the members of his class and school community. |
| Year 7 Clontarf Academy Boys | Team Work (Winner) | Tahj, John, Michael, Brandon and Adrian were nominated for making a fantastic transition to high school. They have shown a high level of commitment to the Academy, to reaching their full potential in the class and on the field and to assisting and role modelling to other students. Congratulations boys! |
| Zoe Adams | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Zoe was nominated as someone who consistently stands out as a leader within the class room and beyond. She shows a caring attitude towards others demonstrates supportive behaviours and encourages others with their learning. The entire classroom benefits as a result of her modelling collaborative behaviour, and Zoe was also selected as a student councillor at her school for 2010. |

| Amee Wedgebury (Highly Commended) | Mateship (Nominated) | Amee was nominated for consistently being willing to help others at Junior Media Group. Amee also helps her friends with their homework, with hard questions at school, and also helps her mum in the work that she does with the elderly. |
| Amy Read (Highly Commended) | Respect (Nominated) | Amy has been nominated for her consistent, positive values, strong integrity and ability to make strong positive choices. Amy demonstrates respect in a number of ways – she takes care to approach every task with a positive attitude, and strives to do her best in every facet of her life. |
| Brooke Smirk, Dayana Jalal and Sara MacIntosh (Highly Commended) | Achievement (Nominated) | These girls were nominated for winning a state competition in designing a radio advertisement to encourage young people to donate blood. Their advertisement was played on Nova 93.7 for a week, and showcased the design and organisational skills of these girls, as well as their ability to work together to pull off such an amazing assignment. |
| Chloe Doomen | Respect (Winner) | Chloe has been nominated for being a caring, selfless person who is never too busy to help a peer or teacher when they need it. She has a positive and creative energy, and has earned the respect and support of teachers, staff and peers because of her proactive cooperation and presence. |
| Chloe-Lee Short and Hayley Winter | Achievement (Winner) | Chloe-Lee and Hayley were nominated as leaders within Dance 4 Africa, stepping up from absolute beginners to teachers and choreographers. Both volunteer time to teach the young classes, and have been responsible for choreographing numerous routines. They are both very positive role models both within Dance 4 Africa and in their communities. |
| Denham Ansell | Inspiration (Winner) | Denham was nominated for giving most of his time for other people. Denham is a mentor in the Student to Student program with the Smith Family, and despite a full life with many commitments has signed on to be a mentor again in 2010. Denham has also helped friends who have been victims of bullying. Denham has developed into a responsible young man with a social conscience, and provides a very positive role model. |
| Koorliny Arts Centre Girls Club Leaders | Team Work (Winner) | The Koorliny Arts Centre Girls Club leaders were nominated for being positive role models and mentors to the younger members of girls club. These girls work as a team in order to make the club a better experience for everyone. Some activities can be difficult, but if any younger members struggle, these girls are always there to help. |
| Nikeasha Larsen-Grey | Mateship (Winner) | Nikeasha was nominated by a friend for always being a great friend to others, supporting friends during really tough periods, and being diplomatic and tactful even with peers that may not be very friendly to others. |
| Trystin Hart | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Trystin was nominated for being a brilliant student and leader – working hard and trying his best. His teacher always relies on Trystin to be the leader in a group or of the class. He is always willing to help peers, often volunteering to assist others who are having a really hard time. |
| Zee Marincowits (Highly Commended) | Inspiration (Nominated) | Zee has been nominated for her dedication and passion towards the development of gilmore cares about cancer project. Her dedication is evident in her decision to shave her head if the student leaders raised a certain amount of money for the cancer council, which they were successful in. Over 150 students came to suport her when she shaved her hair off, proving she is an inspiration to many. |

| Angela McEachon (Highly Commended) | Role Model / Leadership (Nominated) | Angela has been nominated for her inclusive attitude towards others in the leadership roles that she is in. Angela is the head girl as well as a girls brigade leader, and she also oversees younger children in volunteers in the church. Angela particularly takes time to support students with disabilities, and younger students often come to show her their work. She is an exceptional role model at her school and to young people in the community. |
| Bertram Kids in the Kitchen | Achievement (Winner) | Bertram Kids in the Kitchen have been nominated for their willingness to learn new skills and their commitment to host and cater for various community events. Many of the Kids in the Kitchen had very little experience in the kitchen but through application and enthusiasm they have embraced every opportunity that they have been offered. They spend time above and beyond their time at school to cater at events such as our last LyriK awards night where they catered for and served over 200 guests. |
| Brodi Walley | Inspiration (Winner) | Brodi was nominated for making and honouring the commitment to better his schooling this year. Brodi has demonstrated a real desire to achieve success and has shown great maturity to do so, and has turned his education into a really positive and successful experience. As a result of his effort and hard work, Brodi is currently the highest achieving student for his age in his class. |
| Georgia Briggs | Mateship (Winner) | Georgia has been nominated for being a true friend to anyone and supporting those who have been through tough times. Georgia’s nominator describes Georgia as the friendliest young person she has ever met, with a very kind and generous nature. Georgia is a great role model within the school, demonstrating how to be a friend to anyone. |
| Kieren Milton (Highly Commended) | Mateship (Nominated) | Kieren was nominated for being a great friend to others, with a very inclusive attitude. Kieren will often invite lonely students to his groups and will share his belongings with others freely. Kieren is also a leader in a multi-aged basketball program and helps encourage the team, particularly the younger students. |
| Kwinana Childrens Choir | Team Work (Winner) | The Kwinana Children’s Choir was nominated for the teamwork award for forming such a tight knit group that really pulls together to help each other out in such a short period of time. The Choir was formed in March of this year, but already the group has 26 members who give up their time for rehearsals and to learn and rehearse songs. The Choir have become excellent ambassadors for the Town in their performances in front of the Premier, at LyriK awards ceremonies, at the Secret Harbour Festival and are booked in for many other events for Christmas around Kwinana and beyond. |
| Liberty Brown | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | Liberty was nominated for initiating and supporting a collaboration between the Kwinana Scouts group and the Friends of the Spectacles in rehabilitating a precious local wetland reserve. Liberty is a positive role model within Scouts and she recognises the importance in the interconnectedness between individuals, society and the environment. Liberty is well respected amongst her peers at school and at Scouts. |
| Mark Kickett | Respect (Winner) | Mark has been nominated for the respect he shows to others at school and for the respect that he has for himself. Mark is generous with knowledge about his culture, and generous with his time. Mark mentors primary school students, and also plays a mentoring role in his participation in the Drumbeat program and when new students come into the Clontarf program. |
| Ruby Cotterill and Chloe Doomen | Achievement (Winner) | Ruby and Chloe have been nominated for their dedication in fundraising and raising awareness for the 40 hour famine. After showing extraordinary enthusiasm for the concept of World Vision, the girls planned and fundraised in a number of different ways for the 40 Hour Famine project. In doing so they set an outstanding example to their peers in perseverance and caring for others, and have made others aware of the need of children in poverty throughout the world. |

| Ben Fletcher | Achievement (Winner) | Ben has been nominated for his achievements in BMX. Since joining SDBMX in October 2009 Ben has achieved significant success. He has competed in both the WA state titles in 2010 and 2011, as well as competing in the under 14’s National titles that were held in Queensland. Due to his success, Ben will also be competing in the World Championships to be held in Copenhagen of July this year. |
| Bertram Primary Student Councillors | Team Work (Winner) | The Bertram Primary School Councillors were nominated for working together to fulfill a variety of roles at school whilst always keeping cheerful and positive. They have worked together to try and provide a safe environment at the school by being available to assist others who may be getting bullied or who have other concerns. |
| Kayla Michael | Inspiration (Winner) | Kayla was nominated for her fantastic efforts with her studies this year. Kayla moved back to Kwinana this year and has had outstanding attendance and been very focused on her studies. She has been an asset to Gilmore College this year, who are very proud to have her back in the area. |
| Tamiesha Torres | Inspiration (Winner) | Tamiesha has been nominated for her desire to achieve at school despite obstacles that have presented throughout the year. Tameisha’s attendance at school has been exceptional, having %100 attendance throughout term1, and she is also involved with the Follow the Dream program at Gilmore College where she has been an inspiration to both peers and teachers. |
| The Gilmore College Middle School Drumbeat Group | Respect (Winner) | The Gilmore College Drumbeat Group has been nominated for acting in a respectful way to themselves, each other and other community members at all times. The group has grown together in this regard and as a result the boys had the opportunity to perform with Aboriginal elders from the community as a part of ‘Sorry Day’ on May 26th. |
| Thomas Pratt (highly commended) | Achievement (Nominated) | Thomas has been nominated for his achievements in basketball. Thomas currently represents the Rockingham Flames in the under 13’s WABL competition on Sunday’s and has recently been selected to represent WA in the state school boys team that will compete in Canberra in August this year. |
| Tyra Jacobs - Bolton | Mateship (Winner) | Tyra has been nominated for ability to resolve any conflict that may arise in a positive and non-violent manner. In addition to Tyra’s ability to model effective conflict resolution to her peers, Tyra often takes the further step of making friends with that person. Her example in this manner has encouraged others to interact positively with one another. |
| Zachariah Graham (highly commended) | Role Model / Leadership (Nominated) | Zachariah was nominated for his model behaviour in the classroom and on the playground. His positive actions and attitude often encourages other students to behave in a similar way and he is always willing to assist others without having to be asked. |
| Zoe Adams | Role Model / Leadership (Winner) | This is the second time Zoe has been nominated for and won the leadership award. Zoe has been an active member of the Gilmore College Student Council since the beginning of 2010 and was also a finalist of the ‘Young People Who Care’ Awards this year. Zoe always demonstrates a positive attitude and has continued to further her leadership skills over the last 12 months through her involvement with the student council. |
